Colors are troublemakers
They never seem to do what you want them to. I was starting swatching (hee hee) for my Jaywalker socks for the Jaywalker KAL and got the perfect striping sequence. The only thing is, is that it was on the small side. I was already having trouble getting it past my heel so I knew I had to go up a needle size. You already know what happens next. They fit, yay! But the stripes are gone, boo! So what next? I'm going to knit them again with the smaller needle but cast on for the bigger size. Please give me stripes, please give me stripes, please give me stripes. And it would be nice if you fit, too.

Ah, yes, yarn info.. Knit Picks Sock Garden in Stargazer Lily.

Have you tried casting on 60 or 68 stitches?

Cool colors! Wow, the two "swatches" are very different. I hope you achieve stripes this time around!

I had problems with sock garden pooling too - I just went with it and kept my fingers crossed. But the yarn is soft, isn't it? I think I'm going to knit Jaywalker in the near future as well... just have too many gifts to knit right now!

I've seen lots of color pooling issues with Sock Garden, which is what keeps me from trying that yarn. Jaywalker will be my next socks (I'm using Koigu).

maybe try rewinding the yarn in another direction? how furstrating... oh well, it does add to the beauty of handknitted items, though!!

I am having the same problem with my lorna's! Only I didn't realize it had to do with the width of the sock, the pooling I mean. I kept thinking it depended on where I cast on LOL! After oh like.. 10 cast on's I figured it out. My poor yarn is unraveling!

So I finally got like 3 inches on it last night, tried it on and it was to tight!! GAH! So now I'm going to go up from 52 stitches to 60, maybe then the colors will pool nicer!! I know they pool nice at 70. Maybe I should just give it up and switch to like 000 needles or something, cept I don't think circs come in that size!!!

Good luck. I ended up getting gauge on 2.5mm. The sock will seem a lot bigger than it should. What I've found is that, what will seem perfect, is actually too small.

I think it's kinda cool...

Seriously! In general I don't like pooling, but the colors here plus the size of the "pool patch" look really neat!

Good luck with your socks =)

Here's something you can do, if you haven't already cast on. Look at the cast-on end of your other sock for the color sequence. Then on your yarn locate that same color sequence and try to cast on for the sock at the same place.

Boy oh boy, I sound clever. I hope it works! Good luck!
